Join The Bay Point Island Foundation and the Haig Point Foundation's Earth Weekend 2022 Celebration on Bay Point Island April 22 and 23. Take part in marine debris data collection, beach clean-ups, and other activities! Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, learn about the scientific monitoring on Bay Point Island. Enjoy your boxed lunch on the beach and take a break to watch for dolphins and shorebirds! So very many ways to enjoy your day helping to clean and protect our islands and the special ecosystems for the flora and fauna that call these places home!

Bay Point Island

Registration limited; Registration Required by April 8!

Transportation will be provided via boat to Bay Point Island, with a meeting location at Driftwood Eatery (5 Waterway Lane, Hilton Head). Those participating in the beach clean-up at Bay Point Island will be assigned to Group 1 (8:00-2:30) or Group 2 (9:00-3:30) each day. All volunteers will receive a Safety and Awareness Talk and will be asked to sign a waiver prior to participating in the day’s events. Volunteers should be prepared to visit the island with sneakers/boots (no sandals) for walking the trails and through various terrain. Bug sprays, sunscreen, and water will be available.

All participants should consider bringing the following with them for their day:

• Hat with neck flap to protect against the sun and/or insects

• Sunglasses

• Sneakers/boots/Rubber Boots that cover toes and ankles are required.

• Sunscreen (SPF 30+ and higher is recommended)

• Refillable water bottle (water stations will be available)

• Camera

• Binoculars

• Pack of wet wipes or hand sanitizer

Registered volunteers will receive a confirmation email with directions, details, and itinerary for the day, upon their confirmed registration. Spots are limited, volunteers will be selected first-come first-served.
